Thoughts on Tiger Woods new Nike commercial featuring his late father? It’s a No-Go for Me.

8 Apr

Definitely don’t call it a comeback! Not with THIS as fodder. My prediction? This commercial will have people talking about Tiger, and Nike, for sure…but probably not in a GOOD way.

I don’t care how well he is doing in the Master’s…..Tiger Woods’ new Nike commercial using his deceased father’s voice is, to me, both disturbing and inappropriate, verging on tasteless.

It is kind of creepy to listen to his dead dad doing a voiceover in a weak effort at rebuilding his much-tarnished image. Does it strike anyone else as odd and….irrelevant? What point are they trying to serve? That is father would think what he’s done is wrong? And how does that make me want to buy a Nike product? I suppose I “kind of” see what they were “trying” to do with this commercial, but, it didn’t appeal to me, whatsoever. In fact, it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

If you want MY humble opinion, Nike – being a sportswear company – should maybe focus on, oh, I don’t know – maybe his GOLFING TALENT and ATHLETIC ABILITY….after all, isn’t that why they wanted him to endorse their products anyway? What good did this ad do? It is just, I think, drawing more attention to his “situation.”

Aside from that, I’m sick of hearing about the “sex addict” and “sex therapy.” When a rich and famous person has indiscretions, it is an “addiction” and they act like it is an “illness”…when anyone ELSE does it, they are just classified as, well, a person with low morals, a cheater, a jerk, or a skank. (<~~Insert your own choice words. Jerk and skank are pretty mild terms.) Why IS that? It just bugs me.

But, that’s neither here nor there.

His image as a goody-goody family man is long gone. Get back to golf, Tiger. You’re doing well on that front. Nike – maybe take note of that and keep his dead relatives out of his next commercial.

Gaga for GaGa! Pittsburgh Monster Ball Tickets on Sale Tomorrow!

8 Apr

Tickets for Lady Gaga’s much-buzzed-about “Monster Ball” Tour go on sale for Pittsburgh TOMORROW, April 9th, 2010.

You can get them from Ticketmaster at 10am – but, be forewarned: it is definitely a hot ticket. Shows in other cities have sold out in 20 minutes or less, and the better the seats, the heftier the pricetag.

However, according to fans and critics alike, it is WELL worth it.(Of course, as a Gaga superfan, I MAY be slightly biased…but hey, I’m just telling you what just about every review I’ve read has said, too!) The show is apparently a spectacle to beheld, like anything Gaga does. It entails many costume changes, dancing, elaborate sets, a complete musical storyline, a pop-art, avant-garde, haute-couture, in-your-face undertone, and, unlike many of her peers and predecessors, LIVE singing!

No lip-synching from this gal.

While Britney’s 2009 “Circus” was definitely one of the biggest and most over-the-top concerts in recent memory, her sexy dance moves, catchy tunes, superstardom, and cutesy costumes can’t make up for one thing and that is actual raw, live, amazing vocal performances.

Lady Gaga’s concert will be the first in the new Consol Energy Center. Today marked the last regular-season home game for the Pittsburgh Penguins at the soon-to-be-defunct Mellon Arena.

Will YOU be getting tickets tomorrow? Let me know! And, GOOD LUCK, “Little Monsters!”

Idol Adieu – Bye Bye, Benami & One Close Call for ‘Big Mike!’

8 Apr

The American Idol eliminations the past two weeks have been quite interesting. Didi Benami last week surprised me, Big Mike (a.k.a. Michael Lynch) this week, absolutely shocked me! He was the contestant with the lowest scores – and was in danger of being sent home – until the judges unanimously decided to use their ‘save’ on him.

Didi was one of my personal favorites, and so I was sad to see her go. Mike, however, is a definite favorite of the judges, and, many fans…..but, I guess his performance Tuesday  night on the Lennon/McCartney themed show was not enough to rally his voters or create any new fans for himself.

I wish Didi the best of luck, but, it was only a matter of time. I‘m picking Crystal to win it all, but, I’m ROOTING for Lee Dewyze, *my* personal favorite!

Who are you all rooting for?

And were you all as absolutely surprised as me to see Big Mike nearly eliminated last night?

Do you think the judges made the right call using their only “save” on him?

I don’t know that it was the right move; but, I definitely “called it” that he’d be the one they’d save….so that part of it did not surprise me!  I want to hear all of your opinions!
