Tom Cruise and American Idol in Pittsburgh!

5 Oct

Tom Cruise is in Pittsburgh filming his upcoming movie, One Shot. (Fun fact? He follows @Glitzburgh on Twitter and also gave us a shout-out one day last week!)

Anyway….when Cruise and wife, actress Katie Holmes, and their daughter, Suri, weren’t busy enjoying the Milkshake Factory or Soergel’s Orchard & Farm in Wexford, they were likely taking in all that Pittsburgh has to offer.

Recently, Werner Herzog was cast to play opposite Tom Cruise in “One Shot,” as the movie’s villain, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for him around the city, too.

Last week also found celebrities Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, and Ryan Seacrest in town. They were here judging American Idol auditions at the Convention Center and also held a press conference. (From all accounts, J.Lo is STUNNING in person!)

Tell us: have you had any celebrity sightings here in “Glitzburgh” lately?

PS: Tom Cruise’s film One Shot is now casting!! If you are interested, contact Nancy Mosser Casting for more information. Call 412-621-1160 if you are interested in being an extra this weekend and next week.

Idol Adieu – Bye Bye, Benami & One Close Call for ‘Big Mike!’

8 Apr

The American Idol eliminations the past two weeks have been quite interesting. Didi Benami last week surprised me, Big Mike (a.k.a. Michael Lynch) this week, absolutely shocked me! He was the contestant with the lowest scores – and was in danger of being sent home – until the judges unanimously decided to use their ‘save’ on him.

Didi was one of my personal favorites, and so I was sad to see her go. Mike, however, is a definite favorite of the judges, and, many fans…..but, I guess his performance Tuesday  night on the Lennon/McCartney themed show was not enough to rally his voters or create any new fans for himself.

I wish Didi the best of luck, but, it was only a matter of time. I‘m picking Crystal to win it all, but, I’m ROOTING for Lee Dewyze, *my* personal favorite!

Who are you all rooting for?

And were you all as absolutely surprised as me to see Big Mike nearly eliminated last night?

Do you think the judges made the right call using their only “save” on him?

I don’t know that it was the right move; but, I definitely “called it” that he’d be the one they’d save….so that part of it did not surprise me!  I want to hear all of your opinions!

American Idol’s Aaron Kelly – a Pennsylvania kid!

31 Mar

Did you know….

American Idol hopeful Aaron Kelly, 16, is from Sonestown, Pennyslvnania.

Sonestown is about 4 hours from Pittsburgh, and, in fact, Kelly has, in the past, performed in “Da’ Burgh” in his pre-Idol days.

You can see his face on billboards in and around Pittsburgh for PA Cyber Schools.

Aaron is one of the younger contestants from American Idol, and has steadily impressed the judges with his country twang and mature – yet current – vocal stylings.

Kelly has performed with Pittsburgh country band, Steeltown, and has been featured on Pittsburgh’s “See and Be Seen” website.

His  home base is closer to Scranton than Pittsburgh, but surely many Pittsburghers are rooting for this fan favorite to be the next American Idol.

Idol Adieu – Someone needs to Turn a New Paige in Life …

25 Mar

Sorry, Paige Miles.

You were never a fan-favorite of THIS girl’s. (I was heavily rooting for Mullet Banana Boy a.k.a. Alex Lambert, and my current favorites are Lee Dewyze, Casey James, Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersaux and Aaron Kelly. Yes I’m aware that’s half of the cast…anyway…)

Simon seemed smitten with Paige from the get-go, but then she sadly disappointed week-after week.

I feel sorry for her. She seems so sweet, and is beautiful….but her voice has been going downhill for the past couple of weeks.

I hope she gets her act together!

Bidding Idol Adieu to you, Paigey!

Anyone think America voted and … made a mistake? I want to hear your thoughts.

Boynes, out.
