Martha Stewart Does Market District

14 May

Today, Martha Stewart madness took over Market District in Robinson Township, right outside of Pittsburgh. Approximately 750 people got the opportunity to see a demonstration of Martha’s new “Martha Stewart Clean” eco-friendly household products, and get either books or products autographed by Martha herself.

Ms. Stewart was, of course, polished, polite, and impeccibly dressed, and surprisingly friendly, posing for photos with fans during the book signing and being chatty. The whole event was run very efficiently and smoothly and was overall well-done and well-organized, and very tasteful.

Even though we were told that she would not pose for photos, when I got up there, she took a picture with me without my even asking her to. I was expecting someone to just take a picture of her as she was signing my book, but she was gracious and nice, and even offered me encouragement on publishing my own book someday.

I admit, I went into it as a skeptic. I wanted to see what it was all about, and I wanted to blog about it for my ‘day job’ because of the whole healthy living and wellness component, but, I’ve never been a huge Martha fan. However, it goes to show that you shouldn’t judge people because, she was very kind to me and didn’t rub me the wrong way at all. I can only speak for my personal experience but I left happy, and, after looking through the Fresh Flavor Fast book, hungry.

Kudos to Market District (and what a fabulous store that is, anyway!) for putting on such a lovely event!

All About the Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh!

12 May

Recently, I set up an “e-interview” with Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh manager Autumn Shreve. If YOU want to learn more about this FUN and unique Pittsburgh hotspot, read on!

=======================

Describe Pittsburgh Hofbrauhaus in 3 words: – unique, entertaining, and flavorful!

How is Hofbrauhaus different from other local bars/restaurants? – We are not just a restaurant, we are a destination. Here you can get delicious food, bier that is brewed on site by our German Brewmaster, and live entertainment every night. Our Bier Hall turns into one big party every night here!  And you can’t forget about the Bier Garten – outdoor seating along the river, with picnic-style seating and it’s own bar. The best place to be on a summer night!  There is no other place like this anywhere in Pittsburgh!

What is ‘truly Pittsburgh’ about this particular Hofbrauhaus location? – We all know Pittsburghers love their beer! Mix that with large portions of hearty food and great entertainment – it doesn’t get much more Pittsburgh than that!

Do you have specials for Happy Hour or “game night” … what about special events … i.e. concerts, holiday parties, private parties, etc.?? Every Thursday is College Night from 9-11 PM. You can get $6 liters and $5 Pretzel and Bier Cheese appetizers.

Any local ‘celebrity’ / VIP spottings at Hofbrauhaus so far? We have had many local celebrities visit the Hofbrauhaus! Mayor Ravenstahl actually had his re-election party here. Mike Tomlin, as well as a few Steelers. And we are definitely a favorite spot of many of the Penguins!

What’s your personal favorite 1) drink, 2) menu item, and 3) appetizer? What about best-sellers?My favorite drink is the Hefe Weizen. It is also our most popular bier here! My favorite menu item is the Oktoberfest Hendl, which is a roasted half-chicken – delicious! Our Wursts are huge sellers here – Bierwurst, Bratwurst, and Mettwurst. My favorite appetizer is the “Works” Sampler, which has Pretzels with Bier Cheese, Fried Pickles, Potato Pancakes, and Sauerkraut Balls. The Sauerkraut Balls are delicious!
