Real Housewives of New Jersey Star Teresa Giudice in Pittsburgh to Knock Out Cancer

14 Nov

Last night, Teresa Giudice, the reality star known for her spot in the Real Housewives of New Jersey cast, was in Pittsburgh to appear at the Knock Out Cancer event at the Galleria.

Not only did she give Glitzburgh a quick shout-out (see video, below) but she happily posed with fans at a VIP reception before the main event. After the meet-and-greet, she signed cookbooks and posed with photos with other fans who bought a copy of her latest book, Fabulicious.

Tall Cathy from 96.1 KISS interviwed Ms. Giudice on stage, where Teresa said, “Now that I’m in Pittsburgh, I’ll say, I LOVE the Steelers. Go Steelers!” which the crowd loved. She spoke candidly about her feuds with the other women and her brother, and also mentioned that her dad (who is occasionally seen on the show) is in the hospital and is in ill health.

Giudice said that she was still having problems with some of her castmates, but that she is as proud as ever of her talented and adorable daughters, and that her husband “Juicy Joe” is thinking about opening up a winery near where they live in New Jersey. “We want to host wine tastings and stuff,” she said.

This wasn’t her first time in Pittsburgh. She says that in Season 4 you see that they actually had a layover here at the Pittsburgh airport.

Later, she took to Twitter to say she loved meeting her fans from Pittsburgh and she shared some photos of the event. Knock Out Cancer featured vendors and raffles, and proceeds from the night went to support research and awareness of various forms of cancer. SHAG Salon of Robinson was on hand to do fun pink extensions for breast cancer research, local singers performed, a caricature artist did drawings, and more. A lot of fun for a great cause!

26 Oct

Reality TV star and best-selling author Teresa Giudice, of Real Housewives of New Jersey fame, will be in Pittsburgh on November 13th, 2011.

Teresa is teaming up with 96.1 KISS fm and 3WS for this evening that includes shopping, dining, and drinking, all to raise money for local cancer research organizations.

Lady Gaga “You and I” – PITTSBURGH Version!

30 Aug

“There’s only 3 men that I’ll serve my whole life – it’s my Daddy and Pittsburgh and Jesus Christ!……So put your drinks up for Pittsburgh……Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh I love ya! Pittsburgh, I’d rather die without you…and I…” ~ Lady GaGa

I am a “Little Monster” — that is, a Lady Gaga fan. That being said, she got on my nerves BIG TIME by doing the Jo Calderone alter ego ALL NIGHT at the 2011 MTV VMAs (not to mention “Jo” stealing my girl BRITNEY’s spotlight during her lifetime achievement award….)

Anyway, despite my slight annoyance at this obnoxious character (please stop, Gaga. Please…)  this song almost makes up for it! It’s pretty sweet. Naturally, she did it for a handful of cities across the country,  BUT, it’s pretty cool that she chose Pittsburgh as one of them. According to the 96.1 KISS fm Freak Show page, Gaga is a fan of Pittsburgh because 96.1 KISS has broke a few of her singles — and, they were one of the few stations that she called in to when she dropped this one.

Enjoy – she makes quite a few references to Pittsburgh & Pittsburgh guys! Kinda cool.

“Is this real life??” … Mikey, Big Bob, Bill Clinton, and Lil’ Wayne.

15 Nov

In an early November interview with our very own 96.1 KISS fm “Morning Freak Show,” President Bill Clinton told Mikey & Big Bob that he was excited for rapper Lil’ Wayne’s release from jail, and that he “believes in” the hip hop artist.

Clinton claims that in the past, he “underestimated the intelligence” of rap artists until daughter Chelsea introduced him to the music. He hopes that Lil’ Wayne will turn his life around.

The story made national and even international news, being written and talked about on ABC News, CNN Headline News, MTV.com, and even a publication in India.

I think that Mikey and Bob are the only guys that could get such a gem out of this former president. Way to go, boys! Putting Pittsburgh on the map, once again.

SATC2 Premiere – A Sex & the City 2 Glitzburgh Movie Review!

27 May

Last night, I was lucky enough to attend the 96.1 KISS fm VIP Private Midnight Screening and “Pink Carpet” Party for”Sex & the City 2″ with 3 of my girlfriends. (In a Private VIP Box, equipped with leather recliners, free refreshments, and a concierge, I might add! We won that at random, which was a lovely way to cap off an already-fabulous evening of martinis and sushi)

Let me preface this review by saying that I’ve been “training”  for this movie release for a couple of weeks now: shopping, catching up on the first AND last seasons (gotta have all your bases covered) and, of course, re-watching the first movie which I’ve seen a gazillion times (and also saw on opening night.) That being said, I’m obviously a diehard SATC fan. Just a warning.

So, while I was beyond excited to see this movie, and even more excited that a friend gave me the chance to go to this premiere so that I could see the midnight screening, I also didn’t want to have super-high expectations or “set the bar” too high in my head. (I did, however, pick out my outfit a week in advance, an LC Lauren Conrad black sequin boyfriend blazer that I’m in love with. Chose it before I even knew I was going to this event.) Anyway, back to the point: sequels are never as good as the original. I knew that, I expected that, and while I was pumped, I sort of wasn’t going to psych myself out about it. Just putting that out there.

I was smart to do that. Don’t get me wrong – the movie was GOOD. It was entertaining. It was fabulous. As always, the fashions were to die for. The location was amazing. I want to be best friends with Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda. (Especially Carrie. I’m SO CARRIE!) I still find Big to be impeccably smooth, charming. How could any woman NOT love Sex and the City?

That being said….it WAS a sequel. The first one WAS better. And, in my humble opinion, NOTHING will top the show! SATC2 was lacking a little of the hilarity of the first movie, and, to me, didn’t have as much heart. I don’t do spoilers, but I will say that Miranda was a little too “happy” and Charlotte was a little too “not happy” and so that was a little confusing to me as a viewer.

And one HUGE character was missing:

New York City.

While Abu Dhabi was beyond fabulosity, and the glam and decadence was SO “right” for these gals (and it kind of made me want to hop on a camel and visit there!)….there just wasn’t enough of the Big Apple. I know, I know, we got enough of it in the series and the other movie, but, I don’t know – it was just like an old friend was missing, and it was almost absurd to see so much of these girls, who ARE New York, not IN New York — the city that became the 5th character of the show.

Some other items to take note of: Carrie’s wardrobe is still outrageous, but in her own oh-so-fantastic way, girlfriend can still WORK IT! Samantha, despite having obvious work done, has NEVER LOOKED BETTER! Softer, prettier, but still the  inappropriate, crazy, Samantha that viewers either love or hate, but, mostly love! Carrie’s body is to-die-for. Charlotte and Miranda have a particularly touching moment, as they bond over martinis, that had the audience racoucsly laughing-out-loud – but, as LOL-worthy as it was, it was also a genuine moment that moms everywhere – and really, women everywhere, will be able to relate to. And yes, as seen in previews, there’s an Aiden moment.

Duh.

There’s so much to talk about, but so much that can’t be said, because, I don’t want to ruin it for you all and the general jist of this review is this: if you are looking for a lighthearted and fun flick to check out – I do encourage you all to go see this film – ESPECIALLY if you’re a Sex and the City fan. Listen, I said it wasn’t as good as the first, but, with this cast, those writers, this location, this franchise – how could it NOT be a fun and fabulous adventure? Pure entertainment. It won’t be a letdown. It’s hard to top something as stellar as the TV show and the first film.

Sex and the City ….

“It isn’t like anyone else….”

( You’ll get that after seeing the movie 😉  )

PS:  Mini-spoiler: Thumbs down – Watch out for corny and cliche karaoke scene! And a horrible cameo/song by Liza Minelli. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. The soundtrack would get far worse reviews than the movie. The much-talked-about 80’s flashback is barely a blip on the radar. On the other hand – a thumbs up – super-fun shoes that Carrie scores for $20.00 at the spice market! You have to have the GUSTO to pull those suckers off, though! 🙂
