From Real Housewives of New Jersey to Pittsburgh: Teresa Giudice is Coming to Mt. Lebanon to ‘Knock Out Cancer’

26 Oct

Reality TV star and best-selling author Teresa Giudice, of Real Housewives of New Jersey fame, will be in Pittsburgh on November 13th, 2011.

Giudice is a flashy, albeit polarizing Jersey gal who, love her or hate her, will be at the Galleria in Mt. Lebanon for an exclusive “Knock out Cancer” fundraising event.

Teresa is teaming up with 96.1 KISS fm and 3WS for this evening that includes shopping, dining, and drinking, all to raise money for local cancer research organizations.

Tickets range from $50-$100. For $75, you get a signed copy of Teresa’s cookbook, and for $100, you can get a VIP Meet and Greet with Ms. Giudice herself.

According to the website, “The evening will be filled with music from a live band, jazz music and a DJ and Chinese and silent auctions.”

Some tickets are still available for purchase and you can buy them, here.  To learn more about Teresa, you can check out her website here and her Bravo network blog, here.

Will the Real New Jersey Please Stand Up?

10 Sep

The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Jersey Shore. Jerseylicious.

These are just a few (yes, there’s more!) of the “gotta-love-’em” trashy reality TV shows out there that are giving the Garden State a bad name.

I saw Zach Braff – of Scrubs and Garden State fame – on E’s “The Daily 10” last night, lamenting this very fact, and mourning the loss of his home state’s reputation.

Now, I don’t know much about Jersey to begin with, but, if there were a handful of  shows on TV right now making Pittsburgh “trendy” for ALL THE WRONG REASONS, wouldn’t you all be upset?  I kind of feel bad for Jerseyites.

As Braff put it, one can’t exactly say that they spent a lovely weekend at the Jersey Shore without some GTL, Snooki, or fist-pumping reference.  (Though, could you say that before the MTV show? I don’t know. As I said, I know nothing about NJ. This isn’t my being rude, it is just unfamiliar territory for me.)

I mean, are ALL housewives in NJ table-flipping, hair-extension pulling, faux-drag drama queens like the ladies that I love to hate love…on the Real Housewives of New Jersey?

Of course not!

My question, though, is why do they all like spray tans so much? And the makeup? I mean TONS and TONS of makeup? Overkill of animal prints? Big hair? (Hello, Tracy, Olivia, Gatsby Salon staff! You certainly ARE Jerseylicious!) And the TEMPERS! Cat-fights left and right, girls hitting guys, guys hitting girls, table flipping, etc. etc….This CAN’T be all of Jersey.  (Just like all of Pittsburgh isn’t mullets………..)

I DO realize that they’re putting these people on TV for ratings. (And for that, I am thankful!) I’m on the side of people that reside in Jersey who have actual class and taste.

I mean, trust me, Pennsylvania gets a bad rap sometimes, too. Have you SEEN the “Pennsylvania Boys” video spoof of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls?”  Cut me a BREAK. Hello, embarrassing.

So, I want to hear from the normal people from Dirty Jersey  the lovely Garden State because as much as I love these people and these shows (and trust me, I do – my DVR doesn’t lie!) I feel as though the real New Jersey needs to stand up for itself!

Here’s a hug from Pittsburgh.

(And a fist pump for good measure.)
