Rising Regina – Catch their 2 Shows this Weekend in Pittsburgh!

10 Sep

Rising Regina is a 5-piece acoustic band based out of Pittsburgh, PA whose sound is a marriage of rock and blues, with hints of jazz, folk, bluegrass, and even Celtic.

Eclectic and versatile, they’ve played in many venues all around Western Pennsylvania and will be performing two shows this weekend if you want to stop by and check them out. Tomorrow, Sept 11, you can catch Rising Regina at the Carnegie Arts and Heritage Festival Battle of the Bands. They take the stage there at 2pm. Later that evening, swing by Club Cafe in the South Side where you can see Rising Regina perform with Jim Levier at 7pm.

Pittsburgh Irish Festival 20th Anniversary – Erin go Bragh!

10 Sep

May the luck o’ the Irish be with you!

And it can be, this weekend!

The Pittsburgh Irish Festival is going on September 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2010, and is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

This annual festival is being held at the Riverplex near Sandcastle at the Waterfront in Homestead, and runs 4pm-midnight tonight, 11am-midnight tomorrow, and 9am-6pm on Sunday.

Tickets are $12 at the gate for adults ($10 advance tickets), and children and seniors are $8 a piece.  (Special $5 discount for active military!) This ticket price gains you admission to the event where you can take part in this Celtic celebration!

Enjoy Irish food and drinks, traditional music and dancing, and even an Irish dog tent! There’s also lots of shopping and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, as well as Happy Hour specials!

Are you more interested in history and heritage? They have that, too. Watch Irish artisans work, speak with a genealogist at the “Genealogy Pavilion” to learn about YOUR Irish history, and, also learn about Irish traditions straight from on-site historians.

There’s something for everyone at the Irish Festival, whether you want to party, play Blarney Bingo, do children’s Celtic arts and crafts, check out Gaelic sports or a Song for Ireland exhibit, and more!

Come check out the Pittsburgh Irish Festival and celebrate its 20th anniversary this weekend!

PS: Don’t worry about having to miss church, either! On Sunday at 10am, you can join them for a special Gaelic mass!
