Pennsylvania Girl & Country/Pop Superstar Taylor Swift coming to Pittsburgh!

16 Jun

This weekend, Pittsburgh will host Taylor Swift at Heinz Field.

Swift, 21 years old, hails from Reading, PA, and is currently one of the most successful country crossover artists of all time.

Blazing up the pop and country charts, winning over 2/3 of the awards she’s nominated for, and being seen on red carpets and in magazines all across the world, Taylor Swift has become a household name.

Her Pittsburgh show this Saturday, June 18th, starts at 7pm.  Some tickets are still available.

Pop Singer Ke$ha To Party with PITT Students This Afternoon

10 Apr

Pop star Ke$ha is headlining this year’s University of Pittsburgh “Bigelow Bash” today from 1:30-4:30 PM in a free, students-only concert.

According to an official statement from university officials, no outside press coverage will be allowed. (Trust me – I’ve already tried to score an interview or media pass!)

Pop singer Ke$ha, who has never played Pittsburgh, has done quite a few college shows in recent months. With her eccentric, somewhat….dirty….looks and her fierce, undeniably catchy hooks, this pop diva is sure to “party til they shut her down.”

So, if you’re a PITT student, grab your glitter and secure your spot on Bigelow for what promises to be, if nothing else, an entertaining show.

Rising Regina – Catch their 2 Shows this Weekend in Pittsburgh!

10 Sep

Rising Regina is a 5-piece acoustic band based out of Pittsburgh, PA whose sound is a marriage of rock and blues, with hints of jazz, folk, bluegrass, and even Celtic.

Eclectic and versatile, they’ve played in many venues all around Western Pennsylvania and will be performing two shows this weekend if you want to stop by and check them out. Tomorrow, Sept 11, you can catch Rising Regina at the Carnegie Arts and Heritage Festival Battle of the Bands. They take the stage there at 2pm. Later that evening, swing by Club Cafe in the South Side where you can see Rising Regina perform with Jim Levier at 7pm.

Photos of the Day: Better STEELERS pics – Taylor Lautner or Lady Gaga?

10 Sep

So, I thought the Taylor Lautner + Steelers pics rocked …

But… Lady Gaga with a Terrible Towel? THAT is badass.

Which photos are better?

PS:  Here we go Steelers! Home opener at Heinz Field on Sunday! Who will be there for the game? Glitzburgh will! 🙂

Gagaloo Update: Ms. Gaga will perform 2nd show in Pittsburgh… in FEBRUARY 2011; XTina in August 2010.

10 May

Attention Lady Gaga fans: yesterday’s blog post was accurate: my suspicions were confirmed this morning. Lady Gaga will be adding a 2nd Pittsburgh show to her Monster Ball tour. She’ll be swinging by Pittsburgh again in February, 2011. Tickets go on sale THIS FRIDAY, May 14th, 2010. Her September 5th show is already sold out — and sold out in under one minute — so if you’re attempting to get tickets this week, be prepared – for you’ve been forewarned. (Just a sidenote: 96.1 KISS fm will also be giving away tickets all week long, so you can also tune in to them for your chance, as well. Gaga’s camp certainly isn’t giving us fans much of a chance to prepare to have to spring for a ticket! I mean, what’s the rush? The 2nd show’s like 9 months away! Sheesh!)

Additionally, today Christina Aguilera also confirmed her tour dates for her Bionic tour. It turns out that the Wexford gal will be performing at Pittsburgh’s First Niagra Pavilion on August 3rd, 2010. Tickets for her show will go on sale May 21st and will surely be (sorry XTina) in lesser demand than Gaga’s.

Gaga for GaGa! Pittsburgh Monster Ball Tickets on Sale Tomorrow!

8 Apr

Tickets for Lady Gaga’s much-buzzed-about “Monster Ball” Tour go on sale for Pittsburgh TOMORROW, April 9th, 2010.

You can get them from Ticketmaster at 10am – but, be forewarned: it is definitely a hot ticket. Shows in other cities have sold out in 20 minutes or less, and the better the seats, the heftier the pricetag.

However, according to fans and critics alike, it is WELL worth it.(Of course, as a Gaga superfan, I MAY be slightly biased…but hey, I’m just telling you what just about every review I’ve read has said, too!) The show is apparently a spectacle to beheld, like anything Gaga does. It entails many costume changes, dancing, elaborate sets, a complete musical storyline, a pop-art, avant-garde, haute-couture, in-your-face undertone, and, unlike many of her peers and predecessors, LIVE singing!

No lip-synching from this gal.

While Britney’s 2009 “Circus” was definitely one of the biggest and most over-the-top concerts in recent memory, her sexy dance moves, catchy tunes, superstardom, and cutesy costumes can’t make up for one thing and that is actual raw, live, amazing vocal performances.

Lady Gaga’s concert will be the first in the new Consol Energy Center. Today marked the last regular-season home game for the Pittsburgh Penguins at the soon-to-be-defunct Mellon Arena.

Will YOU be getting tickets tomorrow? Let me know! And, GOOD LUCK, “Little Monsters!”

the BNVz opening for Kid Cudi tonight at PITT campus concert!

27 Mar

Pitt Program Council Presents Spring Hip Hop Show

Tonight at 7pm, Pitt students can enjoy the musical stylings of local “progressive rap pioneers”, the BNVz, and widely-recognized #1 selling rap artist and producer, Kid Cudi at the William Fitzgerald Field House. Tickets are $5 for students and the show begins at 7pm.

A Cleaveland native, Kid Cudi is best known for his “always-stuck-in-your-head” Billboard hit, “Day N’ Nite” and he’s worked with and/or written for the likes of Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Clipse, Travis Barker, Emile, and Pharell. He is currently starring in a Mark Wahlberg-produced television show on HBO called, “How to Make it in America.”

Joining Kid Cudi are local hip-hop artists the BNVz who have a progressive, house style to their rap music.  Some of their members even have jazz and classical backgrounds. Their flavor is unique and they’ve garnered a large local following here in Pittsburgh, winning a Hip Hop Battle contest held on the Pitt campus on Monday, which is how they’ve been selected to open the Kid Cudi show. Formerly known as “Beats N’ Verbz,” they want to change the face of rap music by incorporating elements of heavy bass, dance, alternative, and house while straying from  being labeled as a “hip-hop” band. Their music is heavily laced with lyrical storytelling and they do not like to be defined in generalities or strictly pigeonholed into one genre. They are currently serving as the opening acts for many big names in and around Pittsburgh, and hope to have their album come out in due time.

As for Kid Cudi, he’s most recently been known for a take on Lady Gaga’s song “Pokerface,” entitled “Make Her Say” and has reached the Billboard Top Ten with “Day N’ Nite,” which peaked at #4. He has sold over 450,000 copies of his debut album in the United States.

Get your tickets at the William Pitt Union now…Call 412-648-7900 with any questions. Or email ppc@pitt.edu … and don’t miss DJ Bonics at 7pm as he warms up the stage for the BNVz and Kid Cudi. Show starts promptly at 8:00. Join DJ Scottro from KISS fm at Pitt Cafe on Meyran for the after-show party.
