St. Baldrick’s – Going Bald for a Good Cause: Helping Fight Childhood Cancer! @StBaldricks

25 Mar

Last Friday, March 19th, 2011, approximately 25 students, dads, and teachers “went bald” for kids’ cancer at Aiken Elementary School, a part of the Keystone Oaks School District. The school’s goal was to raise $1,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation – and they ended up raising over $7,000!

Each “shavee” got friends, family, and strangers to donate and “sponsor” them as they had their heads shaved bald for this worthy cause.

Enjoy some photos from the event, below!

The S↑2C  benefit concert and telethon fundraiser is a star-studded show bringing celebrities together to raise money and awareness for cancer.

The SU2C broadcast is dedicated to the 12 million U.S. cancer survivors illustrating how groundbreaking research can change the tide in the fight against the disease.

This year’s event will feature Lady Antebellum, Green Day, Leona Lewis, Queen Latifah, Natasha Bedingfield, Martina McBride, Stevie Wonder, and more as musical guests, and will also feature other special guests such as Mandy Moore, Katie Couric, Ryan Seacrest, Rob Lowe, Sally Field, Vanessa Hudgens, Kathy Bates, Diane Sawyer, Dr. Oz, and more. Another special guest is Survivor reality star Ethan Zohn, who, interestingly, is a cancer survivor himself (and also dating hometown Survivor winner Jenna Morasca.)

Of course, a question on everyone’s minds is whether or not actor Michael Douglas will be in attendance following the news of his own cancer diagnosis.

Keep in mind that donations in ANY increment, large or small, help if you are able to contribute, and, you are actually able to start donating NOW. All donations are valid, legit, safe, and secure. You can give to Stand Up To Cancer, here:  Donate Now.
