Pittsburgh Fashion Week “Fashion Hall of Fame” Nomination Deadline Approaching

If you want to nominate someone for Pittsburgh Fashion Week’s annual Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame, there’s no time like the present to do so.

Nominations are being accepted via email and snail mail until February 20th, 2015.

According to the event’s Facebook page,

“[PITTSBURGH] – At Pittsburgh Fashion Week’s 6TH annual event, our proud induction continues to be the most attended fashion award event in Pittsburgh’s history and we have you to thank. NOMINATIONS are being accepted for the 2015 list of inductees into the Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame at Pittsburgh Fashion Week this fall.

The public is invited to nominate anyone with roots in Pittsburgh for the award. Nominations must include the name of the nominee, an explanation why the person is deserving, and contact information of the nominee. Nominations are due February 20th and may be submitted via email to halloffame@pittsburghfashionweek.com or by snail mail to Pittsburgh Fashion Week, P.O. Box 17947, Pittsburgh, PA, 15235-7947.

Nominees will be evaluated based on longevity and significance of contribution in the general areas of fashion, style and beauty industries (at least 10 years of experience). They can be persons living in Pittsburgh, or persons born or raised in Pittsburgh and currently living elsewhere. Five to eight honorees may be culled from what are expected to be scores of nominees. Prior Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame Inductees are ineligible.

The Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame committee is composed of the board members of PFW. PFHF committee initially reviews all nominee applicants to ensure that each proposed nominee meets the above eligibility requirements. PFW reserves the right to reject a nomination.

The purpose is to shine a spotlight on fashion icons from the city of Pittsburgh. We want to bring them to the forefront, honor them and continue to inform Pittsburghers we have persons who have greatly impacted the World of Fashion. In addition to this induction, we will announce the “Exceptional Artist” (EA) award now in its third year. This award will be given to an up and coming artesian exhibiting similar qualities, philanthropy and community outreach of which, PFHF will nominate. Nominees will be announced March 20th, 2015 via Press Release and shortly after via social media.

The luncheon will take place on the last day of fashion week. In which, we invite you to share another historic moment with us. The September 27th luncheon will be open to the public and will culminate a week of activities beginning Monday; September 21st. Further details will follow.

Pittsburgh Gears Up for 2nd Annual Fashion Week

The second annual Pittsburgh Fashion Week is coming up! Mark your calendars for fashion, fun, and fabulosity, Pittsburgh-style!

The opening extravaganza will kick off this Monday, September 26th, 2011, and will feature sushi and pre-show martinis. The kickoff event is Doncaster: Under the Tent at Market Square and will be followed by champagne and dessert.

Tuesday the 27th will be the “ManStyle” Fashion Show at Heinz History Center, with Wednesday featuring the “Radiant in Red” Fashion Show at Robinson Mall. That event will benefit the American Heart Association and will include a “Defining a Decade” theme.

Friday, Sept. 30th and Saturday, Oct. 1 will be  all-day, back-to-back runway shows AND a vendor fair at the Clarion Hotel in Green Tree. Sunday wraps up Pittsburgh Fashion Week with the Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame Luncheon at the Omni.

Designers featured at Friday and Saturday’s runway shows include: Gwendolyn Kiste, Tammy Jackson, Marquis Clancy, Elaine Healy, Armani Noir, Angie Yau, Brian David, Cary D. Heard, Golden Skyy, Judy’s Originals, the Fur Vault at Macy’s, students for Inside Out, Petite Plus Perfection, Diane Dube Lindenblade, Leslie Harris, Eco Chic, Serra Altenbaugh, Debra Weiss, and Faith N’ Khaos.

Vendors present will include: Traci Lynn Jewelry, Miche Bags, 3rd Charm 4 Luck, Ice & Elegance, Dead Bury Dead, Siplada, Brush Footwear, Extra Impressions, Stella & Dot, Sofiya Mozley, Glam Earth, TriMi Tank, Pittsburgh Fashion Magazine, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Vitaminwater, Tommy Hilfiger, MBK Photography, and Models & Talent International.

Singer Jordin Sparks Rocks a Zang Toi Dress

At Sunday’s 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, singer Jordin Sparks was seen on the red carpet working a custom-made red gown by designer Zang Toi.

The Pittsburgh tie-in? Zang Toi was the main attraction at the first annual Pittsburgh Fashion Week held in the Fall of 2010.

That’s Haute – Pittsburgh Fashion Week, 2010! Join the Fashion Fun!

I’m like a little kid at Christmas. SO EXCITED.

Monday marks the first day of the first-ever Pittsburgh Fashion Week – and Glitzburgh will be in attendance at all of the shows and events, bringing you all of the news, gossip, and fashionable fun straight from PFW!

Want to learn more about Pittsburgh Fashion Week? Here’s the schedule:

Monday’s event on 9/27 is Runway: Clearing for Takeoff – Destination, Fashion Oz! in the South Side Works. The show starts at 7pm, appetizers at Tusca beforehand at 6pm!

On Tuesday, 9/28, join PFW at the John Heinz History Center, for International Designer Zang Toi at 7pm. After the show, head over to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for “An Evening with Zang Toi” for a private cocktail hour from 9-11pm for ticket holders of Toi’s fashion event.

Wednesday, 9/29,  is my birthday. Oh, a far as FASHION WEEK goes – join us at the John Heinz History Center for the PINK! Fashion Show benefitting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The show begins at 7pm and is dedicated to breast cancer awareness.

I’ve Been Framed is the fashion event on Thursday, 9/30. Attend this trunk show at Eyeopolis at the Waterfront, where you’ll enjoy a Haute Eyewear Trunk Show with Chic Fashions.

Friday, October 1st features a host of fashion events. Enjoy Cajoli, Capriccio, & Carabella at 6pm, Judy Originals and Crazy Hot Clothes at 7pm, and Petite & Plus Perfection at 8pm, at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center: Pittsburgh, in Green Tree.

This fashion extravaganza continues on Saturday, Oct. 2nd. Saturday will be a day full of fashion shows! First up is Laurie B. Allen & Katie Wolfrum at 2 pm, followed by Lana Naumeyer at 3 pm, and then Brian David at 4 pm, Pandora at 5 pm, MarKav at 6 pm, Spoiled Chics the Boutique at 7pm and, last but not least, Eco-chic Custom Designs and Charity Auction at 8 pm. All of these shows will take place at the Ramada Green Tree, as well.

Pittsburgh Fashion Week wraps up on Sunday, October 3rd, with a Fashion Hall of Fame Luncheon at the Omni William Penn Hotel from 1pm-3pm.

2010 Fashion’s Night Out – Pittsburgh Style! Support FNO at Saks Fifth Avenue

It’s the most wonderful time of the year …

No, not Christmas…New York Fashion Week! But, if you’re like me, and you can’t get to the Big Apple to partake in the haute couture frenzy, you can still do your part here in the ‘Burgh!

Have you heard of FNO – Fashion’s Night Out? NYC does it up big, and other cities all over the WORLD have caught on, too.

Pittsburgh’s having its very own Fashion’s Night Out, as well, and Saks Fifth Avenue is celebrating tonight from 6pm-8pm.
