A new commercial ad for the search engine Bing showcases Wiz Khalifa, Pittsburgh rap prodigy showing fans and haters alike just what it takes to be at the top of the rap game. (And that, he is!)

This ‘Bing Originals’ spot features Wiz “on his daily hustle.”

Views see the fashionable rap artist cook himself some breakfast; and head to a recording studio session, a game of pick-up basketball, and – alas, the tie in! – Wiz stops to use his phone to do a Bing search for a Thai restaurant. (perhaps to share with girlfriend Amber Rose…?) and ending with a concert scene.

Naturally, we want to hear some music from Mr. Khalifa and so the background track is ‘When I’m Gone’ from his platinum-selling debut ‘Rolling Papers.’

(The ‘Bing Originals’ spot follows behind another Bing ad which features freestyle skier Bobby Brown (no, not the New Edition crooner) and Wiz’s track ‘Boarding Pass.’)

Pittsburgh Rapper Wiz Khalifa Nominated for 2 Grammy Awards!

Wiz Khalifa continues to make Pittsburgh proud!

The rapper has been nominated for 2 Grammy Awards at tonight’s 54th Annual Grammys  in the categories of Best Performance and Best Rap Song.

Here is a video of a backstage interview with Wiz, and a photo, below, from a pre-Grammy gala.

Also, Wexford’s own Grammy award winner (and judge on “The Voice”) Christina Aguilera was nominated with Maroon 5 for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the single “Moves Like Jagger.”

Wiz Khalifa Taking Over!

It seems that  Pittsburgh’s own Wiz Khalifa is having his name dropped in almost every other issue of Entertainment Weekly that I receive.

This week, (the 2.18.11 issue) on page 76 he gives Pittsburgh, and the Steelers, a “black-and-yellow” shout-out.  (Despite the debate on whether or not the song  has anything to do  or should have anything to do with the Steelers.)  In previous issues he’s been touted as who to watch, and the hottest up-and-coming artist in the rap game. (His name was first mentioned in the esteemed mag back in 2009.)

It is no surprise – Khalifa is getting press everywhere. He recently appeared on the George Lopez Tonight Show and the BET 106 and Park show. (with  my friend, DJ Bonics, nonetheless!)

HIs fans include the likes of Snoop Dogg and more. Keep your eye (and ears!) on this Pittsburgh phenom as he continues to make his name in the world of rap.

Khalifa’s album, “Rolling Papers” is due to hit stores – and iTunes – on March 29th. Just a couple of days ago, he tweeted a link to his next single, “Taylor Gang.” Last year, he was the winner of the MTV News Hottest Breakthrough MC contest and is currently on tour nationwide.

Tidbit: Local Rap Artist Wiz Khalifa sells out show in NYC last night!

Pittsburgh Rap Artist Wiz Khalifa has been doing big things for a few years now, both locally and nationally. He started off here in Pittsburgh, his hometown, where he still lives and works, but just last night sold out a show at the mid-capacity, historic Irving Plaza in New York City.
